Secrets of the Dark Forest

The scene represents two Shawnee men in their natural habitat, the eastern woodland forest. The Shawnee and other woodland tribes were masters of their environment. They were taught from an early age to recognize the signs that would indicate the recent passing of game or the presence of other humans – friend or foe. Any disturbance of the forest floor or overturned rocks in a stream were easily read and understood. This ability gave woodland Indians the power to unlock the secrets of the dark forest.
