Moving Among the Giants
A group of warriors follow an ancient trail through a virgin Eastern forest. These routes often began as animal trails before their use by the Indians. This view gives a clear picture of what the forests of North America were like in the eighteenth century. The canopy created by the tall trees restricted the penetration of sunlight and prevented much of the thick undergrowth that is part of the forests that we know today.
