I love birchbark canoes, one of the greatest contributions the Indians have given us, truly a work of art. This painting depicts a six-man canoe loaded with skins on their way to trade. They have been down this river before, but the river changes from year to year with fallen trees and snags. So on this day they have decided to take a chance and venture into the unknown.
