Water Girl

This young girl has gone to a nearby stream to gather water in a birchbark container. The Eastern Indians used the bark of birch trees for everything from lodges and canoes to containers and other highly decorative items. Birchbark was light weight, durable, and could be easily shaped into needed forms.
