The history of a nation's treaties was kept within the symbolic language of the wampum belt. The belts were painstakingly woven out of beads made from the shells of freshwater clams. These belts were very important to the tribes and were given for safekeeping only to the most trusted statesmen, who would often wear the belts around their necks at important ceremonies.

The Art Of Robert Griffing
The Peace Maker is 20" x 16" canvas reproduction. An edition size of 950, each comes with a matching numbered copy of the book "The Art of Robert Griffing". In creating The Peace Maker, being the image selected for the cover of the book, we felt there was a need to do something special. After researching several companies the choice was made to go with Munson painting in Minnesota. We couldn't have been more pleased with the color match to the original. The process used is referred to as Iris or Giclee' and involves the actual application of inks directly on the canvas. This is a slow, costly process, but the results speak for themselves. Each Peace Maker is stretched before shipping, making it ready for framing. Because it is a standard size and requires no mats or glass, framing is easy.
